Brita Water Filters August 23, 2008 I prefer the Brita water filters to the OEM filters that came with the refrigerator. Brita's reputation and quality make me happier about the water dispensed from the door of my refrigerator than what some generic filter would provide.
I really like Brita products. Seller sends immediately. June 29, 2008 I really like Brita products. The water tastes sparkling clean. Seller sends immediately and I have ordered from this seller before.
Good report April 7, 2008 Item was just as described and a welcomed alternative to the higher-priced same thing I'd only been able to find in the Big Box Stores. Thanks... would purchase this again.
Good Alternative Filter For Your Fridge April 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was quite happy when I saw this product was on the market. It's good to have an alternative product available as a replacement filter, since there really IS a monopoly by the OEM manufacturer that keeps the prices high on filters. I was also glad to see this was a Brita product since we also use on of their filter pitchers. The first thing I noticed is that the filter felt lighter than the OEM brand when it was new. Obviously, they are all heavier when filled with water. I think Brita might be using a different technology inside the filter.
Like one of the other reviewers, I found that the taste improved after a day or two and I am quite happy with it. I've noticed that the OEM filter still leaves a strong mineral deposit in the drip pan of our fridge. We will see how the Brita does in this dept.
The Brita filter does NOT make as many health claims as the OEM filter for lead, asbestos reduction, etc. The Brita website CLAIMS that they cannot make these statements because State regulations prohibit them since they did not manufacture the refrigerator. I'm guessing they DO reduce these contaminants, but have no idea by how much. In our case, we have a good municipal water system and I only want to reduce chlorine.
I'll probably buy this product again in 6 months, unless other non-OEM brands become available!
Don't Buy Into Brita Name... April 1, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I purchased this filter as a cheaper alternative to the "brand" name filter for my Whirlpool refrigerator. I purchased it in January, and replaced in with the "brand" name filter in March. I honestly didn't think it would make a difference, but it did. The water tasted awful with the Brita, almost worse than from the tap. It had a strong chlorine taste. I finally decided to replace the filter, thinking that it may not make a difference (that something was wrong with my refrigerator), but it was an instant fix. Buying the Brita filter over the Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool filter only saved a few dollars, and definitely wasn't worth it.
